Providing Book Sets to Students Across the Nation and Around the World.
part·ner: people engaged together in the same activity; in this case teaching children history and tolerance
Teachers and students alike are excited to see sets of books written by their peers coming into their classroom. Thank you Thrivent Financial Action Teams for donating sets to Costa Catholic School in Galesburg, Illinois and Saint Paul the Apostle Catholic School in Davenport, Iowa.
NOTE: At the bottom of this page, you fill find descriptions and images of book sets which tell amazing stories from all around the world.
This is a unique opportunity for students to be engaged in history in a way that helps develop character. They use critical thinking skills in writing and illustrating a book to share what they have learned with young readers.
It's cost prohibitive for us to print unsold copies of each set so we must print on demand. When strategic partners come on board, it will drive the price down. Below is a discounted price from what we charge per book ($13.99) and it includes shipping costs as well.
Price per set is $130 for ten different titles or if you give the students more variety and donate two sets, additional discount is applied and cost is $250 for twenty different titles. This price includes tax and shipping.
Two Ways to Donate Book Sets: Mail in or Credit Card/Paypal
You can mail donations specifically for book sets (checks and money orders only) to:
Understanding Works NFP / Deb Bowen
2715 30th Street
Rock Island, IL 61201
You will be directed to a new page after your donation to fill in your information on which book sets, how many, where to send them, and more.
If you have any questions email firstname.lastname@example.org.

Our small project has potential to make big impact in your community. When we come together to put books written by kids for kids in a school or a library (or many schools or libraries) in your town to enhance student learning, it is a unique educational partnership.
Partners can include anyone
(individuals, businesses, etc.) who is interested in or committed to enriching the lives of students, families, schools and community. Please consider helping us provide book sets to schools (public, private, or home school groups), public libraries or Little Free libraries, and/or youth groups in places of worship across the nation.
Our goal is to educate children and create empathy but also, to inspire young authors to tell more stories. Many senior citizens have nothing but time on their hands since Covid keeps them in their homes more than usual. The same is true with students. Now is a great time to interview a subject over the phone or on FaceTime.
Students will be sure to be inspired reading any of the sets of ten different titles to choose from (eight different sets shown left).
Book sales of these stories ensure we can continue our mission of helping more students became published
authors and illustrators.
Our goal is that more important stories from the Greatest Generation are told.
