A BOOK by ME Meets Rock Legend Gene Simmons

In 2018 Deb shared books in A BOOK by ME series with Jewish rock star Gene Simmons. His mother was a Holocaust survivor. He talked about her coming to America through Ellis Island and misunderstanding instructions for the pledge of allegiance. Instead of raising her right hand to say the pledge, she made the Nazi salute which visibly upset her. A supervisor saw and he came and explained to her that she never had to make that salute again.

As you can see in the photograph, Gene Simmons signed some book covers and I shared a little synopsis on each of the stories. The one that got him the most was about a little Jewish girl who was hidden with a Catholic family. They owned a pub and the Nazi, who was the “Jew Hunter“ came there for lunch each day. He held that little girl on his lap, while bragging that he could smell a Jew from a mile away, the story A Nazi Loved Me reminds us how ridiculous prejudice is.
