LOVE LIKE LORRAINE

World Changers

We've established projects perfect for students and adults a like to be World Changers.

It's awesome to see youth contribute and make a positive impact that will improve the lives of others. Working together alongside adult community volunteers allows them to build meaningful friendships and connections.

All these projects provide valuable experiences, skills, and perspectives that can shape personal growth, global awareness, and future endeavors.  Working to provide much needed resources for students in developing countries can lead to lifelong friendships locally and in a land far away.

Projects include:

  • $15 Empowers an African Woman

Girls in Sierra Leone are excited to receive a feminine hygiene kit that will change their lives. It means no more missing school when they have their period. Understanding Works and White Field Partners has a shared goal of eliminating the stigma and limitations associated with menstruation for girls.

Days for Girls (DfG) pads are washable and reusable, built to last for three years. Their patented design includes a protective shield and absorbent liner. It's backed by research and feedback from women around the world. DfG recognizes that local leaders are best positioned to drive sustainable, long-lasting change in their communities. Our volunteer team in Sierra Leone has great support from the DfG team in Freetown.

  • Library and PE Equipment for School in Africa

Pack and ship these items to Sierra Leone at a reasonable cost (if you are within driving distance of Chicago) where our team will deliver your donations to schools that lack sports equipment and where students have never checked out a library book. They especially love soccer balls and jumping ropes. You will provide fun and exercise for their recesses in addition to books to read.

Such a great joy to provide books for a library to a school who has never been able to offer them to their students before. We give an average of gently used 200 books per school and explain the concept of allowing the students to take them home overnight. Our hope is that students are able to teach their parents to read if that is a need.

  • Eyeglasses for People in Need

You could help people that have never been able to see clearly. That’s life changing.

Dora (35) in Tanzania had an expression on her face described by this team as "priceless" when she could see clearly for the first time.

"Today I want to express my appreciation to MOST Ministries eyeglass clinic given to our deaf community in Ethiopia." - Belachew Ensermu, Ethiopian Evangelical Church MekanYesus

"My husband Bill and I have been on 13 teams combined. The countries include Panama, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Mexico and El Paso/Juarez. Teams included eyeglasses, clean water/health & hygiene." - Chris

  • Coming Soon: The Bridge

A bridge for homeless children to find love and security.

There are thousands of homeless street kids in Freetown Sierra Leone. That's why our partner Jonathon Donoghue and his team at Child & Family Permanency Services work tirelessly serving as a bridge to these children who need a loving and stable environment with a foster family. His other partners in the USA are White Field Partners (IL) and Helping Children Worldwide (VA).
